Happy December, everyone!
Hey, hi! Glad you stopped
by ;-)
The Battle of The Bands (BOTB) is your
basic Which-do-you-like-best contest where the one that gets the most votes
wins. All you have to do is show up (the 1st and/or 15th
of every month) give a listen and cast your vote in the comment section. Next, hop on over to
see what battles other participants (links located top right column of this
page) have posted for us to vote on! Votes will
be tallied and the winner revealed on or about 8 days later.
Wishing everyone joy and good cheer for Christmas!
I don't expect ya'll to vote between the two, since I'm so late getting this posted, but I'd love it if you share a smile.
Merry Christmas!

The country song is nicely done, but I guess I'm not feeling so country tonight. I vote for Chris Rea and the nice driving through the snow video.

Merry Christmas, Lee! Thanks for your thoughts ;-) I love both songs, but Driving Home has (As Steven T. reminds me) become my very favorite.

ReplyDeleteIt seems that using 'Driving Home For Christmas' by Chris Rea has become a BOTB Christmas tradition for you. What is this, three consecutive years now?
If you think that was one of my patented snarkastic remarks, you couldn't possibly be more wrong! I absolutely LOVE this song, and listening to it has become a tradition for me, too. Not just because of your BOTBs, but because ever since you made me aware of it three Christmas seasons ago, it embedded itself deep into my heart. I have included it on my YouTube playlists 'E-TICKET CHRISTMAS SONGS' and 'HECTOR'S WAYBAC MACHINE (Or, GOLDENSHADOWLAND TWOO)'. And it very nearly made my playlist titled 'GOLDENSHADOW's 25 Greatest Hits'.
Sitting here, drinking a cup of very cheap red wine (with 8 drops of mesquite liquid smoke added to it) from Modesto - the beloved home of 'American Graffiti' - I listened to the song all three times that it played through on that one video. After three times... I guess I'm ready to give Alabama a (pointless) chance in this so-called "Battle". ;^D

Yeah, OK, I liked the Alabama song fairly well. But... peace in Atlanta, Georgia?! C'mon. Who they kiddin'? I was born, but it wasn't yesterday. Chris(tmas) Rea gets my vote.
I have always been hugely into traditions (and especially at Christmastime); I have no idea how many there are. But hearing 'Driving Home For Christmas' in December is my newest tradition, and I can thank YOU for that, so I do: Thank you!!!

Merry Christmas, Stephen T.! Three years? Really? I guess I truly am a creature of habit :-) I've loved that song since the first time I heard it (Yes, three years ago) while looking for a song for BOTB. Not making any promises, but maybe I'll try to mix it up different next year. I'm glad you seem to enjoy the song as much as I do!
DeleteDriving Home For Christmas has such a cheery warm feel to it and I can totally relate to it. I remember all the yesterdays of us making numerous trips home for the holidays. The video scene driving through the snow reminds me of one Christmas Eve, we drove between our folks normally less than a 2 hour drive that turned into 5 or 6 because of the blizzard conditions. We couldn't see in front of us and the road was in a terrible mess. Thankfully God's goodness got us there safety but exhausted. We could've been any happier to be home that night! That all being said, please give my vote to Chris Rea.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to read about your dog.11 is really old for an animal! I pray the other one can stay with you for many more years. Have a joyful Christmas season, dear Deidre! xo
Merry Christmas, Cathy! That "cheeriness" in a snowy setting was exactly what struck me the first time I heard the song. Almost convinced me to trade my 'Rainbow shades' for snow goggles;-) Thanks so much for coming by and sharing your thoughts!
DeleteHi diedre! That's so sad about losing one of the girls. I hope her sister will be around a long time, yet. ♥ As for your battle, it has to be Chris Rea (again). I hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas season!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Debbie! Thank you for the nod for the reigning (at least in my "groundhog day" book) king of Christmas cheer.
DeleteThe girls were siblings from the same litter. So same age, same ailments, and sadly, same time frame.
I'm so sorry, diedre! ♥ Our 4 legged family members live on in our hearts.
DeleteMerry Christmas! My condolences on the loss of your fur baby! Alabama gets my vote
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Mike! Thanks for weighing in on a holiday favorite ;-)
