BOTB June 2023 Summer Sun and Rain

Hi Everyone! Thanks for checking out my new “just for music” site. I’m glad you’re here ;-)

The Battle of The Bands (BOTB) is your basic Which-do-you-like-best contest where the one that gets the most votes wins. All you have to do is show up (the 1st and/or 15th of every month), give a listen and cast your vote in the comment section. Votes will be tallied, and the winner revealed on or about 8 days later.

It’s hard to believe that it’s officially summertime since it really hasn’t been that warm – yet. Temps have only reached 100 once so far. Of course, back in the day, temps didn’t matter near as much as the fact summer had at last arrived. The occasional gully-washing downpour – day or night – only enhanced the adventures we had as kids on those endless summer days that seemed to pass so quickly.

So, there you have it, Folks. Which do you like best? After you vote, and before you go - I highly recommend visiting the rest of the BOTB participants – they’re pros! And a few of them hold two battles a month! Here’s where to find them:

STMcC – Presents Battle of the Bands

Arlee – Tossing it Out

Cathy – Curious as a Cathy

John – The Sound of One Hand Typing

Mike – Mike’s Ramblings

Mary – www.jinglejanglejungle.net

Debbie – The Doglady’s Den

Stay tuned!

  1. Diedre,

I remember summers passing all too Suddenly as a kid and the Summer Rain. I loved splashing in the warm puddles as the storm lifted and the sun heated the air! Sometimes, I'd dance in the heavy showers. Those were the days. Turning to your battle, you pulled together two great song choices for this first day of June. In this round, I'm going with Summer Rain for no particular reason other than it's more a part of my childhood than the first. Have a bandtastic day, my dear! PS: I fixed your link in my side bar to reflect your new BOTB home. ;)

    1. Hi Cathy!
You read my thoughts and mood perfectly. I loved dancing in the rain. Can't say I've done so in quite a few years ;-)
I appreciate your vote for Summer Rain, and thanks so much for updating my address on your sidebar.

  2. I vote for Summer Raon because I just like it better. I know the first song well but it was never a favourite of mine. I remember running around in the rain with my brother loving it amd my mom yelling for us to get inside.

    1. Hi Birgit! Thanks so much for tracing me here to this much easier platform. Ha! My brothers wouldn't go out without a reason like a sports event or something. For me, rain itself was reason enough ;-)
Another vote for Summer Rain - Thank you!

  3. Hi, Hello, Howdy, dIEDRE!

First of all, I have updated my BOTB Participants links to indicate your move to the Westside. (Did you get tired of the scenery at that old place? ;^)

My Brother, The Judge, was nearby when I was listening to yer Battle, and he said that for him it was a very tough call, but he's tossing in a vote for THE MOTELS.

For me, it wasn't close at all:
    1) I've always really liked the music of JOHNNY RIVERS.
    2) I've never liked The Motels because they have that '80s sound that always reminds me of... well... the '80s (as well as motels in the '80s).

So, there ya go, two "botes" - one "bote" for each contestant.

I appreciate the update of my address change to the westside - ha! No, I didn't get tired of the Streampebbles theme. I've had the website since 2009, with a few different hosts, the latest of which isn't as user-friendly as I'd like for this kind of posting.

As far as todays contenders, I do like one a little more than the other. But I'm not saying which just yet. Thank you and your brother the Judge for both votes - one for each of 'em ;-)
      Happy days!

  4. I like both of these songs a lot. I'll vote for Mr. Ramistella, i.e. Johnny Rivers, because I like the song, a real classic, that one...

  5. Hi diedre; we're having a summer heat wave too and I love it! Kind of early for us, but I'll take it, any time. ☺ Summer Rain brings back SO many memories for me and I like it better than the other one, so there you have it! ☺ Glad I found you here. Are you still keeping the Stream Pebbles site?

    1. Hi Debbie!
I'm glad you found me too;-) I will keep Streampebbles as I've had it for so so long. Writers (including me) share their work, thoughts, etc. I've been doing this since before literally everyone had access to the web.
I love your thoughts on voting for Summer Rain! The opening notes alone bring on a wistful summer sigh for me ;-)

  6. I like both of these songs quite well so it makes for a tough choice. I'm thinking that maybe overall the Johnny Rivers song is the better of the two and his delivery is excellent. Though I do like the song by the Motels a lot, I tend to prefer the Rivers song.

A vote for "Summer Rain" from me--it taps into more memories as well.

  8. Hi Deidre!

This was a tough call for me. I am a fan of the 80s, but Summer Rain just seemed to speak to me just a little bit more in this battle.

Seat cushions may be used as flotation devices in worst case scenarios such as this deluge of votes for the cloudburst that is Johnny Rivers ;-) Your contribution is much appreciated!
