Hey, hi! Glad you
stopped by ;-)
The Battle of The Bands (BOTB) is your
basic Which-do-you-like-best contest where the one that gets the most votes
wins. All you have to do is show up (the 1st and/or 15th
of every month) give a listen and cast your vote in the comment section. Next, hop on over to
see what battles other participants (links located top right column of this
page) have posted for us to vote on! Votes will
be tallied and the winner revealed on or about 8 days later.
Last week, our local Weather Gal promised a “cool down,”
which was uplifting as all get-out for those of us who would like to experience
a little springtime before the onslaught of searing Sonoran desert temps take
over. I was thinking about springtime
when a flash of red outside the window caught my eye.
It was my backyard Cardinal! He was hopping around the hood,
and hanging off the side mirror of my jeep; parked right outside the window. He seemed to play a peek-a-boo game, stealing quick glances of himself from left, right, and topside (for an upside-down view). I was so enthralled with
this unexpected pleasure that I nearly forgot what I was doing! But I smiled the whole day and promised
myself I’d do a little something to keep the Cardinal hanging around. It took
the gorgeous bird less than 10 minutes to find the feeder I hung in a backyard
tree this morning!
Anyhow, I’m ready for Spring! Hope you are too. As usual,
the songs I’ve chosen to offer for today’s battle were either not covered by
anyone else in the whole wide world or, said covers simply didn’t measure up
;-) I love both of these ladies, but you can only pick one (for now). Which
song puts a bit of Spring in your soul?
This one?
Or this one?
Happy March! Be safe (and happy) out there, Folks!
It's a bit cold and gray today in L.A. but it's okay. I'm just staying inside anyway.
ReplyDeleteI like both vocalists in this Battle. I don't remember ever hearing either song before. They are both nice.
I'll vote for Mama Cass. I like her voice the best.
Lee
Hi Lee! I like them both too. I've gone and made it hard on myself ;-) A vote for Mama Cass - thank you!
DeletedEAR dIEDRE ~
ReplyDeleteBird, bird, bird, bird is the word. And you found a bird with a personality! Those are rare birds.
Gee, this was a tough contest for me.
Let's test your psychic ability: Did you have any sort of premonition about which song I would vote for?
If you said "The Good Times Are Coming", then you are surely psychic. At least as psychic as was Daphne Moon!
Something about that song reminded me of [Link> THIS song. ;^D

Howdy, Stephen T.! Tough contest? Ha! Me too, actually. Love that clip! Thanks for the introduction of the film AND the song. Yes, I predicted you'd go for Mama Cass. Probably just for the movie though:-) Besides, I don't cook as well as Daphne - ha! I appreciate you adding to the votes Mama's already collecting.
DeleteVOTE = TRACY CHAPMAN
ReplyDeleteMan! Another really tough one, Diedre! I like both singers, and I like both songs; but Tracy's comes in a nose ahead. ~Ed.
Glad to hear it, Ed. I've liked Tracy Chapman forever, and it seems I keep being reintroduced to the marvel of Mama Cass. A vote for Tracy - thanks, Ed!
DeleteTwo song new to me which I enjoyed listening to both. In this battle, I preferred Mama Cass. She had an incredible voice! My battle is up, in case you haven't voted yet. Have a wonderful week, Diedre! xo
ReplyDeleteHi Cathy!
DeleteYessum, been there and done voted! Great battle going on at your place ;-)
Thank you much for another vote for Mama Cass, have a terrific month!
I'm giving it to Tracy...it's different from what I normally hear from her and I like it. I thought I'd go for Cass but I didn't care for the music behind her.
ReplyDeleteHi Brigit! And another vote for Tracy - thank you!
DeleteThe songs were out of the norm for both ladies, but I thought they both did just fine ;-)
Interesting battle diedre. It's pouring rain here, melting all the snow. Hope it'll be gone for good this spring! These songs are new to me and I'm voting for Mama Cass. Love her voice!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie! Good to see you. I'd planned on putting out an APB on my best Canadian friend ;-) Another vote for Mama Cass - thank you!
DeleteNo question, Mama Cass!
ReplyDeleteThat was me, by the way...
ReplyDeleteHa! Hi, John! don'tcha hate when that anonymous thing happens? I know I do. Mama Cass sure is bringing on the Good times in this battle ;-) Thanks, John!
ReplyDeleteThanks, everybody for your votes and welcome comments! I'm later than I meant to be with the results of this battle but I think most of us had a hunch Cass Elliot would run off with the basket of good times, and indeed, she did - 5 to 2!
ReplyDeleteDid you know she didn't care for the "Mama Cass" name? I didn't, but now that I do, I'll respect her wishes ;-)
See ya soon!
The "Mama Cass" name worked pretty well for her I think. Better than "Mama Michelle" would have worked for Michelle Phillips.
ReplyDeleteGood outcome and as it should have been.
Lee
I agree. Thanks, Lee!

ReplyDeleteAs you know, Judge Al Bondigas has been disemployed by Elon Musk-ethead, therefore he was not able to bring his gavel down with a *THUMP* (not to be confused with a *Trump*). However, he did tell me on the sly that had he been permitted to rule in this Battle, he would have said in his court o' law:
"The Tracy Chapman song sounds like a children's nursery rhyme... but without the exuberance of any children. Therefore, I am rulin' for Mama Cass. That's it! That's muh rulin'!"
Incidentally, I agree with Judge Al 100%.
(I was jus' jokin' when I said that this was "a tough contest for me".)
Fortunately, though, Judge Al's rulin' has been officially declared "invalid" by President Musk-ethead, so your Battle was still somewhat close-uh.

I appreciate your input. Thanks.
